I'm Daniela Molinaro. I am a Rowan University graduate majored in Elementary Education with a dual major in Literacy Studies. I plan on (or currently am) obtaining an certificate with graduate study in English as a 2nd language.
Anyone who hears me speaking Italian with my parents, they automatically think I'm 100% Italian and not from around there. Even when I don't even speak the language, they know I come from and have knowledge about being immersed in a immigrant culture. While being 100% Italian is true, I was born in New Jersey making me an Italian American. Although my first language wasn't Italian and it was English, I can speak, read and write it fluently. My parents are immigrant and first generation parents from Italy, making me 100% Italian. They are both from the same town, Belmonte Calabro located "at the bottom of the boot" of Italy in Calabria. They came to America around their 20s not knowing any English. Both of my parents now know English but they still have an accent and still don't know some English words. Because of my parents, I have dual citizenship in America and in Italy as well. I was forced to learn Italian because my grandparents lived with me throughout my childhood, which is something I am forever grateful for. Being Italian has been a major part of my life I'm surrounded every day with helping and essentially teaching my parents how to understand the English language. I am passionate in knowing that I can make an impact on children's lives who just don't have English as a first language.
Not only I am passionate about being Italian, I traveled all throughout Europe which is what you will see on website as well ;)
